home with a sick 5-year-old today. poor baby cried because she couldn't go to school ("but mommy, i'm going to miss the F book!"). she is very worried that she won't be well in time to make her cheerleading debut tomorrow night. there would be a fit of epic proportions if she had to miss that, so unless she's too weak to stand, i'll probably just motrin her up and send her. we'll see. Baby Henry is still stable and making a little progress each day. he has a slight fever, but hopefully they'll get that under control soon. keep those prayers and positive vibes coming. what is the deal with hurricane rita? how can there possibly be another category 5, potentially devastating hurricane this soon after katrina? it just boggles the mind. it seems like most people have chosen to evacuate (and arrangements are being made this time to evacuate those who don't have the means to do it themselves), so the loss of life should be less, but the emotional toll will be the same. it's almost too much to bear last night the radio station i work for had a public forum on hurricane katrina. we have quite a few families in our town who came here from louisiana and mississippi after katrina. it was heartbreaking to listen to their stories. there was also a graduate student from new orleans on the panel. Some of his family he STILL hasn't been able to locate. Others are living in shelters. he's trying to convince them to relocate here, but they're still holding out hope of going home. and they're insisting he stay in school and pursue his degree. unreal.......... come on rita......give us a break!!!!
